Remote Learning Experience

Being that I knew that I was going into this semester as a remote learner, I knew that a lot of my work was going to be online rather than in person. Although we were sent home in March, this was the longest time that I have been out of a physical school environment, for summers and other breaks are no longer than 3 months.

It has been 9 months since I have been on my college campus and the motivation to complete school, while also working full time was definitely a struggle at times. Since being home, I have had the opportunity to remain working at the daycare that has been my summer job for the past 4 years. The students that I had started in school, and then went full remote in November for the remainder of the year. Because I have been the e-learning teacher for grades 2-5, I have been able to learn so much during this time. Not only have I learned about new applications that I can bring to my classroom, but I have also learned many different ways to keep learning an engaging experience over the internet.

The remote learning experience allowed me to apply things that I have seen in person and turn into a concept worth teaching in mathematics. The assignment was not one that a teacher may have planned to teach, yet the circumstances that we are in is so unpredictable. It assures the fact that teachers must be able to think on their feet and be prepared for everything that comes their way.

  1. What did you learn from other's remote teaching experience? What might you consider changing if you were to revise your lesson? Thanks!
