MP #1: Make sense of problems and persevere them

      MP #1 states, "make sense of problems and persevere them". According to the articles given to us, a mathematical problem is one with a questionable variable that needs solving. As teachers, it is important to guide students to conduct the proper problem solving skills and allow them to use their knowledge respectfully. It is our job to give student problems that allow them to work towards their educational success. Whether this be through visuals, or other connecting concepts, problem solving questions need o have a purpose. It is important for students to realize that the problem solving process goes deeper than the answer that is on paper, for the skills that they use to get that answer, justify their whole learning experience.      In the third article found on Kappan, the author discussed the purpose of choosing appropriate problems for the students to undergo.
